Kerby
Find available street parking in Melbourne CBD, live.
Kerby pulls real-time occupancy data from City of Melbourne's in-ground parking sensors and shows you which on-street bays are free, right now, near where you're driving to.
What it does
- Live availability map โ 3,000+ CBD parking bays, sensor-backed occupancy status.
- Filter to available-only โ hide everything except fresh, unoccupied bays.
- Lock a bay โ reserve a spot in the app for 15 minutes while you drive. If someone real takes it, Kerby pings you and offers the next-best nearby bay.
- Off-street lots too โ 2,600+ commercial and private off-street car parks.
- Save your parked spot โ "I parked here" pins your GPS. Later, "Walk back to car" gives you a compass + distance.
- Saved destinations โ tag Work, Home, gym; one-tap search parking near them.
What it isn't
- Not a parking reservation. Locks are inside Kerby only, not with the City.
- Not a substitute for reading the sign. Time-restrictions, permit zones and clearways still apply.

Kerby uses City of Melbourne Open Data (CC-BY 4.0) โ on-street parking bays, in-ground sensor readings, and off-street car parks. Data refreshes about once a minute; some sensors are decommissioned and are marked "stale" in the app.
Backend in Rust (Axum + Postgres/PostGIS + Redis). Mobile in React Native (Expo). Full source at github.com/nnavnita/kerby.
